ACH Shoosmiths (a trading name of Shoosmiths LLP) ("Shoosmiths") is committed to ensuring that your personal data is protected. This privacy policy explains how we use the information you provide and we collect about you through this website www.ach-shoosmiths.co.uk (the "Site"), how you can instruct us if you prefer to limit the use of that information and the procedures that we have in place to safeguard your personal data.

The information we collect and how we use it

In some areas of the Site you may choose to provide us with personal data about yourself, for example your name, postal address, email address, telephone number and/or other information typically found in a CV.

We gather this information to allow us, our employees, agents, consultants and sub-contractors to process your request or application. We will not (save as required by law) transfer your personal data to any third parties other than to our agents, consultants and sub-contractors who assist us in running the Site or who otherwise provide services to us.

We may also use aggregate information and statistics (including your email address and/or IP address) for the purpose of monitoring usage of the Site in order to help us develop the Site and our services. These statistics will not include information that can be used to identify any individual.

We may use "cookies" to collect this information and to track your use of the Site. For more information about "cookies", please see our page 'how we handle your data'. If you do not agree you can choose to not receive a cookie file by enabling your web browser to refuse cookies or to prompt you before you accept a cookie.

Any personal information provided via the Site will be processed in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 (the "Act") and will be treated as confidential. Unless required to do so by law, we will not disclose your information to any third party without your consent.

You acknowledge and agree that we may from time to time transfer any of your contact details and/or application data overseas to any office of Shoosmiths or of any of its affiliates, agents or appointed representatives. Some of Shoosmiths' offices and those of its affiliates, agents or representatives may be located in countries outside the European Economic Area which do not have well developed data protection legislation when compared to Scottish law. Whilst we will ensure your information is processed in accordance with these terms and conditions you may not have rights under data protection legislation in those jurisdictions equivalent to those under Scottish law. Please do not send us any personal data if you do not want that information to be processed in the ways described in these terms and conditions as by providing your information to us you agree and consent to us processing it in this way.

Occasionally third parties may provide storage services to us. In those circumstances those third parties shall be required to enter into a confidentiality agreement on no less stringent terms than found in these terms and conditions and to process your data solely in accordance with our instructions.

This privacy policy only covers the Site. Other links within the Site to other websites are not covered by this policy.

Your consent

By submitting your information to us via the Site you consent to the use of that information as set out in this policy. If we change our privacy policy we will post the changes on this page, and may place notices on other pages of the Site, so that you may be aware of the information we collect and how we use it at all times.

Marketing

From time to time we may use any of the information you submit to us, including personal data, to provide you with marketing information about Shoosmiths.

Careers

You may submit information, including personal data and sensitive personal data to us by email when you submit your CV for a post advertised at Shoosmiths ("application data"). "Sensitive personal data" is information as to your racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious, philosophical or similar beliefs, trade union membership, physical or mental health, sexual life, commission of criminal offences and/or involvement in criminal proceedings.

In acknowledging an application Shoosmiths is not verifying the content, accepting the application or making any offer of employment or engagement. Shoosmiths is not obliged to accept any applications.

Shoosmiths will process your application data for the sole purposes of considering applications and recruitment, and not for any "direct marketing" purposes. We will retain your application data for up to 12 months following receipt of your application. If you would prefer us not retain your application data for this period for consideration in relation to any appropriate vacancies that may arise, please contact us by email at enquiries@shoosmiths.co.uk.

In return for this we may charge an administration fee.

You are also entitled to request that we make any necessary changes to your personal data to ensure that it is accurate and up-to-date. If any of the information that you have provided to us changes, for example if you change your email address or if you wish to cancel your request, please let us know the correct details by emailing us on enquiries@shoosmiths.co.uk.
